Kevin Herink, New Century FS board member, recently completed the year-long Advanced Director Certification Program offered through GROWMARK. He was one of 14 participants chosen from across the GROWMARK System of agricultural cooperatives.
The program is designed to help local cooperative board members broaden their business perspective, enhance leadership skills, increase knowledge of strategic issues impacting the GROWMARK System, and improve their understanding of the System's strategic direction. Participants met for three sessions which included visits to the Chicago Board of Trade; Alpha, IL Distribution Center; the National Cooperative Refinery Association (NCRA) in McPherson, KS; and GROWMARK Lubricants in Council Bluffs, IA.
"This training has reinforced Kevin's understanding of the company's financials, which in turn enables him to make sure we have a good picture of the cooperative system and how to position ourselves for the future", according to Dwayne Jacobs, New Century's general manager.
Herink, a Clutier, IA grain and livestock farmer, has served on the board of directors at New Century FS for 16 years.
